I am not yet sure what is happening today, as Callaghan and Hernewood are not operating. As soon as I hear the details about the provincials schedule, I will post an update. That being said, the boys will not be penalized for not wearing ties today.
Thanks,
Scott

"THE BEAST"
For all of the whining, moaning and complaining that our boys did about running "The Beast" obstacle course over the last couple months, here is the result of their efforts. We have finished in the top 8 and now each player will receive a $200 gift card to Sportchek. Several of our players will run the beast one more time as a relay on Wednesday the 9th after school. If we finish first among other Island teams (TOSH AAA Girls, Birchwood Girls and all 4 SIS teams), we win a $12,000 equipment grant for our athletics department.
Great work boys!

PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
Sorry for the last minute post - it has been a hectic few days. If tomorrow's weather works out, we will depart after school for Charlottetown, with a quick stop at Subway for food. If weather cancels tomorrow's game, we will probably be playing Monday evening at 7:15. I will confirm as soon as I know for sure.
As always, thanks for the support.

Changes to the schedule
Due to time constraints, last evening's game at Hernewood will not be rescheduled. There will also be no practice this evening due to the school closure. Wednesday's game will now be worth 4 points in the standings, rather than 2. Over the next couple of weeks, the practice schedule may change several times as the other SIS teams try to reschedule makeup games and playoff games also get scheduled. Please keep a close eye on the website.

Playoffs and Provincials
As the season winds down, we are getting a clearer picture of how the playoffs and provincials will play out. It has been determined that of the 9 teams that play in Midget West basketball, only three will be playing for the "AA" title. The remaining 6 will vye for the "A" championship. As a result, the 2nd and 3rd place teams (ME Callaghan and Hernewood) will compete for the "AA" West 2nd seed, and we have received a bye to the provincials as the "AA" West 1st seed. At the provincials the West 1st seed plays the East 2nd seed, and the East 1st seed plays the West 2nd seed. Winners will then compete for gold, losers for bronze.
In the East the zone playoffs will play out as follows to determine provincial championship participants:
(1) Stonepark vs (4) Birchwood
(2) Queen Charlotte vs (3) East Wiltshire

A great weekend
Many thanks to the boys, Les, Danny & Neil for a memorable weekend. The boys had a great trip to Bridgewater and came away from the Hebbville Invitational with a perfect 3-0 record. Great effort and lots of reasons for us all to be very proud of our boys on and off the court.
